Denver Nuggets beat Miami Heat 104-93 in Game 1 of NBA Finals

By Aaron Humes: Nikola Jokic did a lot of everything to stop the Miami Heat in the Mile High City, 104-93 for a one-game lead in the best-of-seven NBA Finals.

His 27 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists are only the second triple-double in a Game 1 in NBA Finals history, joining Jason Kidd of the New Jersey Nets. With Jamal Murray’s 26 points they became only the second pair of teammates to each score 25 points and dish 10 assists in a finals game since Magic Johnson and James Worthy did it for the Los Angeles Lakers in 1987.

The Nuggets have not lost at home in the postseason and the altitude and the 48-hour turnaround from a Game 7 victory for the Heat in Boston proved too much, as they could not overcome a sluggish shooting game.

Game 2 is Sunday night at 6 p.m. Belize time.
