Saint Martin’s Credit Union announces exciting new services including online banking and ATM and credit cards at 72nd Annual General Meeting

Posted: Thursday, June 1, 2023. 6:33 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: On May 26, 2023, Saint Martin’s Credit Union (SMCU) hosted its 72nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Sacred Heart College Auditorium in San Ignacio.

A total of 774 adults including youths attended the AGM.

Sixty-seven junior account holders also attended the event.

During the AGM, members had the opportunity to win exciting prices including cash prices, a microwave, a refrigerator, a stove and kitchen sets.

The SMCU’s Board of Directors report showed that this year membership stands at 10,000 despite losing customers due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

President of the Board of Directors, Dr. John Morris noted that this year SMCU’s online banking was rolled out and has been a success.

Dr. Morris also shared that the new housing loans with a rate of 6.99% are a key feature of the 2023 to 2024 strategy.

Dr. Morris also extended gratitude to the Board of Directors, General Manager, staff and members.

General Manager, Raymond Tzul also expressed happiness and gratitude to members present this year.

Tzul shared with members that bank account numbers will now change to 16 digits. The change is necessary since SMCU will now be integrated into the banking system. Members will now be able to send and receive money instantly.

In addition, passbooks will also change to accommodate for the new account numbers.

Members will need to know their new account number to be able to use it for salaries, pensions, and to receive money.

Notably, members and staff of SMCU wore a shirt marking “Coming soon,” symbolically signalling several changes including discussions on obtaining credit cards, direct transfers, new account numbers, new and upgraded ATM cards and ATM deposits.

The integration into the banking system means that members will be able to access and make transfers out of their credit union accounts via the 24-hour banking service.

Tzul also introduced Jorge Nazim Requena, Relationship Officer, who is there to assist members with these significant and beneficial services.

Tzul thanked all members of the Board of Directors, the Committees, the staff and all members for their continued support.

SMCU also extended congratulations to members that won and encourages you to visit SMCU to learn more about your credit union and their new services.
