By Breaking Belize News Staff: Hot and somewhat unstable conditions prevail, according to the National Meteorological Service. The 24-hour forecast is for mostly sunny skies and hot temperatures today with isolated afternoon showers or thunderstorms inland. Skies will be cloudy at times tonight with a few showers or thunderstorms over most areas.
High temperatures reach 91 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 101 degrees in inland areas, and 85 degrees in the hills. Tonight, temperatures fall to 80 degrees along the coast, 73 degrees inland and 68 degrees in the hills. A heat alert is in effect. Residents, especially in inland areas, are advised to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activity as much as possible, especially during the afternoon hours. Tonight, a strong thunderstorm watch is in effect for severe thunderstorm activity, producing strong damaging winds, heavy rainfall and possible hail.
Winds are easterly to southeasterly at five to ten knots, and sea state is running slight.
Tides will be high at 7:58 this morning and 9:47 this evening and low at 3:27 this afternoon. The sun sets at 6:24 this evening, rising at 5:17 on Saturday morning.
The outlook for Saturday is for continuing hot temperatures and fair weather with isolated showers and isolated thunderstorms developing.
