By Rubén Morales Iglesias: After the introductory parade that was led by the Escuela Secundaria Técnica México’s Ambassadors Marching Band on Saturday morning in Orange Walk Town, the Kevin Bernard Orange Walk Mundialito gets underway on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm at the Louisiana Football Field.
Organized by New Horizon Sporting Club president Wilson ‘Chato’ Perez, the football Mundialito features nine teams from the Orange Walk and Corozal Districts.
After the inaugural kick by main sponsor, Minister of Health and Wellness Kevin Bernard, the first match will feature Germany of Orange Walk Central against Japan of San Estevan at 1:00 pm.
The second game starts at 2:15 pm with Croatia of San Lazaro battling Brazil of Chunox.
Then, Colombia of Louisiana Area tackle Argentina of Yo Creek at 3:30 pm.
Opening day closes with the match between Mexico of Chan Pine Ridge and USA of Trinidad at 4:45 pm.
England of Blackwater will play until next week.
Entrance fee is $5.00.
Perez said that Minister Bernard is his main sponsor, but he has also received assistance from CTV3 News, Fiesta FM 106.7, Orange Walk Town Council , Mayor Laddrick Sheppard, Lul’s Quick Cash, Joaquin’s Ice, Louisiana Government School Principal Mrs. Deborah Palacio, Francisco ‘Tico’ Mendez, Ben Ramos, Escuela Secundaria Técnica México Marching Band, all team coaches, and players.
