Jasmine Hartin pays court fine on manslaughter by negligence charge, wants to ‘move forward’

Posted: Saturday, June 3, 2023. 5:54 pm CST.

By Aaron Humes: An official notice by Canadian counsel for Jasmine Hartin, Seth Weinstein, confirms that she has paid the $75,000 fine due on a charge of manslaughter by negligence in the death of Senior Superintendent Henry Jemmott two years ago.

The statement says “Hartin wishes to express her sincere regret and remorse to the Jemmott family for the loss of their beloved Henry. Hartin accepts Justice Sandcroft’s ruling and with the assistance of a friend, has paid the fine in full. Hartin is looking forward to fulfilling her community service order as she collaborates with young women in Belize at the YWCA and hopes her production of a PSA in an effort to educate will be a practice long continued within Belize.” (It appears the counsel confused the YWCA with the Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) which Justice Sandcroft ordered the community service for.)

It concludes, “Ms Hartin is anxious to now move forward and restore her reputation which has been unfairly tarnished by the disparaging rumors and misrepresentations that have swirled since the tragic accident on May 28, 2021. Her primary focus, however, is to ensure that she can again be a loving and comforting mother.”

Presumably, that starts with the video the court ordered telling of her experience and what she learned.

The 25-page judgment of the court is due in a month’s time from the ruling on Wednesday.
