International News: Mexico to launch asylum processing app

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Mexico plans to launch an asylum processing app to speed up its asylum process amid record levels of applicants, CNN report.

Mexican officials say the app is necessary to manage the large amount of asylum requests in Mexico.

The app would allow applicants to register their intent to seek asylum online and is hoped to speed up processing.

Mexican authorities say that there has been a surge of people from Central and South American arriving in Mexico in hopes of crossing the U.S.-Mexico border.

Those applying for asylum in Mexico could also be waiting to get an appointment on US Customs and Border Protection’s CBP One App, through which users can make appointments to enter legally through a port of entry to make their case for asylum.
