By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: A 4.9 magnitude earthquake struck Haiti this morning killing 3 people, BBC reports.

Haitians are reeling from a weekend of torrential rains that left over 40 people dead and thousands more displaced.

Prime Minister Ariel Henry said his government and international partners were taking “urgent measures” to deal with the flooding.

Mayor of Leogane said that residents are desperate after having lost everything.

Mayor Ernson Henry says that families are in dire need of drinking water, food and medicine.

The World Food Programme, a UN agency has committed to begin providing food.
