Shawn Menzies murder trial kicks off with eye witness testimony

By Aaron Humes: The trial of Eric Miranda and Jeffrey Contreras, accused of the killing of Bowen and Bowen Limited manager Shawn Menzies outside his home on Lancaster Street, Belize City in November of 2018, began this morning before High Court judge Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft.

After two witness statements were entered into evidence, the main eyewitness to the killing who lived in the area at the time began his testimony.

The witness saw one of the accused men handing back what appeared to be a firearm to the other before they both ran away from the area. He identified both men as persons he knew by alias.

Miranda is represented by attorney Arthur Saldivar and Contreras by attorney Darrell Bradley, while Senior Crown Counsel Riis Cattouse is the prosecutor.

The trial continues.
