By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The General Manager of the Execution Abroad Project of the Mexican Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AMEXCID) Gloria Sandoval on Tuesday visited two schools in the Corozal District.
Sandoval visited San Joaquin Roman Catholic Primary School and the Chan Chen Government Primary School. Both schools are participating in the Mesoamerica Hunger Free AMEXCID-FAO programme which entails a school feeding program based on healthy menus which are drafted under the programme and school gardens as a teaching tool.
Sandoval’s visit had the objective of looking at the progress of the Mesoamérica sin hambre programme funded by the Mexican Government and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.
Sandoval was accompanied by Emilio Rene Montero Emilio Rene Montero, National Food and Nutrition Security Commission (NFNSC) Coordinator, and members of the AMEXCID programme in Belize and from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise.
Today, Sandoval is visiting St Martin’s Government Primary School in Salvapan, Belmopan where to donate kitchen items including refrigerators and stoves.
The Mexican government is also funding the Sembrando Vida Belize project, an initiative to help 2,000 Belizean small farmers become more self-sustaining.
