By Aaron Humes: 27-year-old Belize Defence Force soldier Effren Jones Cacho has been charged with allegedly stealing his ex-partner’s cell phone and causing a wound to her in Magistrate’s Court.
Cacho pleaded not guilty to charges of wounding and theft before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford and was offered and met bail of $1,500. His case is adjourned to August 9.
The incidents of which Cacho is accused occurred on June 1 while visiting his ex-partner’s home to see their daughter. When the child apparently refused to come to him and his ex picked her up, a frustrated Cacho apparently punched her, the mother, in the face, causing her to hit her head on the nearby gas tank and leaving a bruise above her eye. He also allegedly stole her Samsung A03 cell phone valued at $350.
