By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Down 1-0, the Griga Dream Ballers need to beat the Benny’s Belize Hurricanes on Friday at the Russell ‘Chiste’ Garcia Auditorium to even the playoffs and force a third game in the three-game Belize Elite Basketball League semifinals. Last Friday, the Canes beat the Dream Ballers 85-67 at the Belize City Civic Center to take the lead.
Tyrie Orosco led the Canes with 19 points, 9 rebounds, two assists, and a block. Victor Evans added 18 points with four rebounds. Kris Frazier contributed 17 points, 8 rebounds, and a steal. Glency Lopez accounted for ten points, made three assists and three steals.
The Griga Dream Ballers’ Delvon Henderson pumped 16 points and pulled four rebounds. Edgar Mitchell added 12 points, nine rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Dominic Woodson scored 11 points and pulled 10 rebounds. D’von Campbell also tallied 11 points and two rebounds. Daniel Conorquie totalled ten points, eight boards, and three assists.
They all need to up the ante tonight for their team, the Canes or the Dream Ballers, to prevail. While the Hurricanes are out to close the series tonight, Griga are gunning for an extension. Makes for a fabulous game in the Culture Capital.
The San Pedro Tiger Sharks are on the sideline waiting after taking out the league-leading Orange Walk Running Rebels in two straight games.
