By Rubén Morales Iglesias: On the final leg of a three-day exploratory tour of Honduras, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Security, and Enterprise (MAFSE) delegation visited the highly-recognized and respected Zamorano Pan-American Agricultural School (Escuela Agrícola Panamericana Zamorano) where they met with Belizean students. El Zamorano or Zamorano, as the school is generally referred to, is a leading agricultural institution in the region.
“At Zamorano, a reputed agriculture university in Central America, the team held meetings with the university’s president and other university officials, toured the plant tissue culture and biological control laboratory facilities, inspected university dairy facilities, and met with Belizean students at the university,” MAFSE said.
Many Belizeans have studied at Zamorano over the years. At present, eight Belizean are studying at Zamorano, four women and four men. Of note, the head of the Biological Control Program at Zamorano is Belizean Miguel Cocom.
