By Breaking Belize News Staff: Today’s forecast by the National Meteorological Service calls for mostly sunny skies and hot temperatures and partly cloudy skies tonight. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will develop inland this afternoon; then a few more will affect the north tonight.
High temperatures reach 90 degrees Fahrenheit along the coast, 101 degrees in inland areas, and 86 degrees in the hills. Tonight, temperatures fall to 81 degrees along the coast, 74 degrees inland and 68 degrees in the hills. A heat alert is in effect. Residents, especially in inland areas, are advised to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activity as much as possible, especially during the afternoon hours. Also, a strong thunderstorm watch is in effect for the possibility that thunderstorms may be accompanied by strong damaging winds, heavy rainfall and hail.
Winds are easterly to southeasterly at five to ten knots, and sea state is running slight.
Tides will be low at 9:12 this morning and 10:12 this evening and high at 3:13 this afternoon. The sun sets at 6:27 this evening, rising at 5:17 on Sunday morning.
The outlook for Sunday is for hot and mostly dry conditions with isolated showers and thunderstorms to affect the interior of the country in the afternoon.
