By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize lost their inaugural game 16-0 to Costa Rica in the U16 Girls Central America Football Union (UNCAF) Championship at the Pinula Contreras Stadium in Guatemala City on Sunday, June 11.
In other scores, El Salvador defeated Honduras 8-1, Panama downed Nicaragua 6 to 1, and Guatemala defeated Cuba 6-2.
Group A games are being played at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento (High Performance Center) in Guatemala City.
Belize are in Group B along with Costa Rica, El Salvador, and Honduras. Group A comprises Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, and Cuba.
Belize’s second game will be on Tuesday at 11:00 am against El Salvador, and the third game will be on Thursday at 11:00 am as well against Honduras. On Saturday, depending on what position the team finishes, they’ll be playing the team from the next group that finishes in a similar position for the final tournament ranking.
