By Aaron Humes: Police are investigating gunfire heard at a residence in Corozal Town Monday night.
According to the son of homeowner Jorge Valencia, he was leaving around 9 p.m. with another person when they heard what sounded like gunfire and immediately took cover. Thus they did not see who may have done the shooting.
Police investigation revealed that two other men, one known to police and now in custody, visited the house around a quarter to nine and after they left, a dark-colored SUV passed by, driving up G Street South, and stopped, after which a tall, slim-built man in white sweater and cap and carrying a bag exited and ran back toward the house. Gunfire was then heard and the alleged shooter ran back down the street, got back into the vehicle, and fled.
Police found evidence of the use of a high-powered weapon with eleven 7.62 shell casings found on the street side and multiple bullet holes were observed on the house, but no one was injured. Police investigations continue.
