One dead; several more injured in traffic accident on Burrel Boom road

By BBN Staff: On June 12, 2023, just after 5 pm, police responded to reports of a road traffic accident on the Burrell Boom road.

Initial police investigations revealed that Marvin Cal Opu was driving a white Ford Ranger pickup and he attempted to overtake a Morales bus and lost control of the vehicle. Passengers of the pickup included Rodel Coye and Tomas Opu.

After losing control of the pickup, it scraped the driver side of a Dodge Ram vehicle that was approaching from the Burrell Boom junction.

Then, the white Ford Ranger pickup slammed into the trailer of the dodge ram.

Two passengers travelling with Opu sustained severe injuries and another passenger who was in the pan of the Ford Ranger died.

The passenger of the Dodge Ram also sustained injuries.

All persons were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.

Police investigation continue.
