By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Showcasing the best 18 amateur teams in Belize, the National Amateur Inter District Championship (NAIC) kicks off this weekend with nine thrilling matches.
The NAIC action starts on Saturday with four games. In San Ignacio, Flames challenge Caesar Ridge from Belize City at 3:30 pm at the Norman Broaster Stadium. In Belmopan, Napoles face Sarteneja from Corozal at 7:00 pm at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium. In San Pedro, Terror Squad host Toledo Mavericks United at 7:00 pm at Ambergris Stadium. And in Dangriga, the EZ Griga Conquerors battle with the Midsouth’s 501 Spartans at 7:30 pm at the Carl Ramos Stadium.
On Sunday, five more games will complete the first week of the championship organized by the Football Federation of Belize. The first match features the Calcutta Bulls against San Pedro’s Shark Shooters at 1:00 pm at the Carolina Football Field in Corozal. In Dangriga, Silk Grass Ballerz will meet Lake I FC from Belize City at 4:00 pm at the Carl Ramos Stadium.
Next, the only match-up featuring two teams from the same football district will be played at 4:30 pm at the People’s Stadium in Orange Walk Town featuring Caribbean Rum Boyz and Sindbad.
The first week closes off in Belmopan and Punta Gorda with games starting at 6:00 pm. In the Capital, Club Atletico will tackle Cayo’s 7 Miles at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium and in PG, Top Shottaz will take on Bamba’s FC from Midsouth at the Victor Sanchez Union Field.
The second week of the championship will feature the rematch of these games.
