By Breaking Belize News Staff: Forty Belizeans employed in the tourism industry will participate in special certification courses this week, facilitated through a partnership between the Belize Tourism Board (BTB) and Florida International University.

The two-day courses will be held at the Ramada Belize City Princess on Tuesday and Wednesday and will be in the areas of culinary arts as well as hotel and tourism management.

The BTB explained that participants can either stop at the courses being offered and receive completion certificates or continue on to subsequent courses and receive several certifications as well as a diploma sanctioned by the Florida International University, BTB, and Belize’s Ministry of Education.

The BTB is sponsoring scholarships for the 40 participants, which reduces the value of each course from between $500-$600, to $50 per course, a total value of over $20,000 in scholarships.

More scholarships are being offered for the next cohort of training sessions, which will be held on July 20-21.
