By Breaking Belize News Staff: The prosecution withdrew a drug trafficking charge against Lord’s Bank resident Robert Lamb, but he still picked up a conviction for drug possession.
Lamb was initially charged in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court with one count of possession of controlled drugs with the intent to supply to another, along with one count of possession of controlled drugs in relation to 67 grams of marijuana found in his possession.
After the Crown withdrew the greater charge, he pleaded guilty to possession simpliciter, explaining that he uses cannabis to treat his asthma, a remedy known throughout Belize.
Lamb was fined $400 plus $5.00 cost of court which he was given until September 30, to pay or he will spend three months in prison for defaulting.
