By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Caesar Ridge host Cayo’s Flames at Marion Jones Complex in Belize City on Friday, June 23 at 8:00 pm in a bid to qualify for the Round of 16 of the Football Federation of Belize’s National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (NAIC).
Caesar Ridge FC have a two-goal advantage after winning 2-0 at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio in the first leg and can qualify even if they lose because 16 of the 18 teams qualify for the Round of 16. One win out of two is a sure ticket to the next round. Only the two teams with the worst record in the first round will be eliminated.
On the other hand, Flames must play to win to secure a ticket to the next round. While a draw might be enough, a loss is no surety. However, even a loss does not necessarily put them out, but it would mean they would have to wait for all the games to play to see what luck awaits them.
That situation makes for a great game tonight at the Marion Jones in the old Capital.
Eight more games will be played during Saturday and Sunday.
