By Breaking Belize News Staff: The trial of 34-year-old Lolman Logan, who stands accused of the 2018 murder of 21-year-old Christopher Meighan in San Pedro, is ongoing in the High Court of Belize.
Logan’s trial without jury is being heard by Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft, and he is being represented by attorney Leroy Banner.
On September 27, 2018, the body of Christopher Meighan was found inside a room at a hotel in San Pedro Town. Meighan had been stabbed multiple times and his throat cut. Police found a blue handle knife with a broken blade as well as a black handle knife found at the murder scene which were believed to be the murder weapons.
Police also have surveillance footage from cameras at the hotel that led them to arrest Logan. During his arrest, Logan denied killing Meighan and said that he was only trying to help. He alleged that it was another person identified as “Shasta” who stabbed Meighan.
Shortly after Logan’s arrest, another man, identified as Rufino Hernandez, was also charged with Meighan’s murder; however the Director of Public Prosecutions abandoned the case against him after a year, leaving only Logan to stand trial.
