By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Unsatisfied with the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship (NAIC) schedule the Football Federation of Belize put out last week, the participating clubs have made changes. Instead of seven games on Saturday and one on Sunday, the NAIC ended with one game on Friday, four on Saturday, and one on Sunday.

Last night, Belize City’s Caesar Ridge became the first team to qualify to the Round of 16 after they beat Flames 1-0 at the Marion Jones Sporting Complex advancing on a 3-0 aggregate.

The 18 teams are vying for 16 spots in the knockout stage. Only the two teams with the worst records will be left out. So, at present even Flames, without a point and a 0-3 goal aggregate, still have hope of making it to the next round.

Here is the lineup of the upcoming games:

Four games are set for Saturday.

7 Miles will face Club Atletico at the Norman Broaster Stadium in San Ignacio at 5:00 pm. Club Atletico FC lead the series 1-0.

Lake I FC take on Silk Gras Ballerz at the Marion Jones Complex at 7:00 pm with a 2-0 lead.

Bamba’s go for revenge against Top Shottaz at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium at 7:00 pm. Top Shottaz have a 2-0 from their Game 1 victory.

Shark Shooters and Calcutta Bulls square off at Ambergris Stadium at 7:30 pm. Their series is dead even after the first leg’s 0-0 in Corozal.

The final four are set for Sunday, June 25.

Sarteneja and Napoles will lock horns at the Ricalde Stadium in Corozal Town at 4:00pm. Currently, Sarteneja have the worst goal difference having lost the first game 6-1 in Belmopan. With that margin of victory, Napoles are already qualified to the next round barring a disaster.

Sindbad and Caribbean Rum Boyz tangle in the Orange Walk derby at the Louisiana Football Field at 3:30 pm. The Rum Boyz lead 1-0.

Mavericks United and Terror Squad FC go head-to-head at the Victor Sanchez Union Field in Punta Gorda at 4:00 pm. Mavericks United trail 2-0 after stumbling in San Pedro.

The final game of the weekend features 501 Spartans hosting Griga Conquerors at the Michael Ashcroft Stadium in Independence at 7:00 pm. The 501 Spartans must bounce back after dropping the first game 3-1 in Dangriga.
