By Aaron Humes: Police have detained three suspects and recovered valuables and cash apparently stolen from the proprietors of Sue Store on Teodosio Ochoa Street in San Ignacio on Thursday afternoon.
According to Jie Zhen Su and her husband Xi Mao Su, two dark-skinned men entered the premises at high noon and one pointed a firearm at them, demanding money. He and his companion stole money from the cash register and a green medal of Buddha from Xi Mao Su before escaping toward the Uno Gas Station.
Later, on Constellation Boulevard between the Kontiki and Shawville communities, police on patrol stopped a black Mitsubishi Outlander SUV with three men inside. The officers recovered money from the back passenger seat as well as the Buddha medal and clothing matching the description given by the store proprietors that the alleged robbers wore while committing the robbery, as well as a Glock nine-millimetre pistol believed to have been used in the robbery.
Police have not announced any charges as yet but their investigations continue.
