By Aaron Humes: The Anglican Church in Belize is mourning the passing of the Reverend Canon Leroy Flowers, long time cleric and priest in charge of St Mary’s Church in Belize City.
Canon Flowers passed on following recent illness which left him hospitalized last month. He had been in charge of St Mary’s, the City’s second oldest Anglican parish following ‘mother church’ St John’s on Albert Street (officially the Cathedral Church of St John the Baptist). Flowers was also associated with St Mary’s Anglican Primary School which stood next to the church on Angel Lane until structural damage forced the school to vacate to other premises.
Flowers is survived by his clerical brethren headed by Bishop Philip Wright, the parish and school community and many relatives and friends both inside and outside the Church.
The wishes of the management and staff of Breaking Belize News (BBN) are with family and friends of Canon Leroy Flowers and the larger Anglican community tonight. May his soul rest in peace.
