By Breaking Belize News Staff: Burrell Boom resident 27-year-old Howard Reyes was already on remand at the Belize Central Prison on a murder charge for over a month when he was given two additional charges for firearms-related offenses.
Reyes appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate Baja Shoman to answer to one count of kept unlicensed firearm and one count of kept unlicensed ammunition. No plea was taken from him and due to the nature of the offense, bail could not be considered at the Magistrate’s Court level. He was further remanded until July 14.
Reyes had initially been arraigned on Friday, May 12, on charges of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and wounding upon James Alexander Perry as well as aggravated assault with a firearm upon Casey Haylock, another alleged victim.
