By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Football Federation of Belize (FFB) congratulated the former FFB Women’s Football Director, Iris Centeno, on her appointment as the Director of National Sports Council of Belize.
“Ms. Centeno leaves the FFB with a wealth of knowledge and experience, traits which will prove positive in her new post,” the FFB said.
“The FFB Executive, Directors and staff wishes [sic] Ms. Centeno all the best as she undertakes her new role with the Council and thanks her for her contribution to female football and for all the memories she leaves with us at the Federation.”

“I want to express my gratitude to President Sergio Chuc and the Football Federation of Belize for giving me the opportunity to serve as Women’s Director of the federation,” Centeno said in announcing her resignation on June 14.
“I always dreamed of conquering the world of football, and I might not have done so as a player, but being able to serve my country through football as the Women’s Director was for me more than a dream come true.
“I leave with good and bad memories that I will cherish forever. I will continue to ask the Lord to bless every single person who believes in women’s football,” Centeno concluded.

Centeno served as the Women’s Football Director at the FFB for five years, but she had been working with the Federation for longer. She resigned as of June 15 and assumed her new role with the NSC the next day.
Currently, Centeno is at Princeton University in New Jersey, USA, accompanying five players of the Under 18 Belize Women’s National Football Team who were invited by the US Embassy as part of the US Sports Visitor program.
Centeno was assigned by the FFB to accompany the five footballers before her resignation.
