By Breaking Belize News Staff: A Belize City man was fined in court this week after he pleaded guilty to having crack cocaine on him.
Thirty-one-year-old Jovanni Bardalez appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court charged with a single count of possession of controlled drugs in respect to 0.7 grams of crack cocaine found on him during a police search. He pleaded with the court to have mercy on him, since this was his first drug-related conviction.
With his early guilty plea, he was fined $150 plus $5 cost of court.
Police say that on Sunday, June 25 they spotted Bardalez take off running when he saw the mobile patrol unit in the St. Martin’s area of Belize City. Officers caught up with him and noticed that he had placed three pieces of aluminum foil in his mouth. He was ordered to spit them out and the officers learned that they contained crack cocaine.
Bardalez was charged shortly after.
