By Breaking Belize News Staff: Two men who were charged with the attempted murder of two brothers back in 2019 decided to plead guilty to a lesser charge when their case was called up in the High Court of Belize.

The men – 22-year-old Avery Bain, who was 18 at the time of the alleged offense, along with 26-year-old Mark August, 23 at the time – appeared before Justice Ricardo O’Neil Sandcroft. They were charged with firing several shots at brothers Brenton Budd and Calbert Budd Jr on February 23, 2019.

After hearing the evidence against them and the testimony of the Crown’s first witness, the men decided to plead down to two counts each of use of deadly means of harm on the advice of their attorney Oscar Selgado.

Justice Sandcroft has reserved sentencing for July 26.
