As work continues, Sittee River Road is looking much better

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing (MIDH) continues working on the improvement of the Sittee River Road in Southern Belize.

“We started working on the Sittee River Road a couple weeks ago – look at it now,” the MIDH said in a social media post on Tuesday.

“This area is part of the South’s Tourism Zone, which means that it needs to be easily accessed by tourists.

“When our foreign visitors can take advantage of our local beauty in comfort, it creates more opportunities for our people,” the MIDH added.

On June 14, the MIDH said its crews had started the upgrade of the Sittee River Road in the Stann Creek District

“We’ve commenced the upgrading of 640m of the Sittee River Road, which lies in the heart of the Tourism Zone,” the MIDH said in a social media post at the time.

“Everything we do is aimed at creating or enhancing opportunities for our people – it’s never only about infrastructure.”
