By Breaking Belize News Staff: In a shocking daylight attack, a security guard was gunned down on Reggae Street Wednesday afternoon. The incident has further intensified the already growing concern about gun violence in the city.

At approximately 4:15 p.m., local police were alerted to the sound of gunfire on Reggae Street. Upon their arrival at the scene, they discovered 31-year-old Kelvin Todd, a security guard and resident of the area, suffering from gunshot wounds. Todd, who resides at #7245 Reggae Street, was swiftly transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) Accident and Emergency Section. He is currently listed in stable condition.

Born July 16, 1991, Todd reported that he was at home when he heard a knock at his door. When he went to answer, he was confronted by a male attacker of Creole descent, whom he identified, brandishing what seemed to be a firearm. Fearful for his life, Todd wrestled with the assailant in a desperate bid for self-preservation. He managed to break free and attempt an escape but was wounded by gunfire in the process.

Officers patrolling the area located Todd and swiftly transported him to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

The incident is now under investigation by the Crime Investigation Branch Precinct One. The suspect’s identity has been withheld for the time being as inquiries continue. The motive behind this brazen shooting remains unclear.

The incident marks the latest in a worrying trend of gun violence plaguing Belize City. It has heightened community anxiety regarding personal safety and public security. Authorities are encouraging anyone with relevant information about the incident to assist in the ongoing investigation.
