Coastal Road upgrade project completed

Posted: Thursday, July 6, 2023. 5:27 pm CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez:  Today, Prime Minister John Briceño symbolically cut the ribbon marking the official completion of the Coastal Road upgrade project.

The Prime Minister noted that the Coastal Road project, which spans over 30 miles along the eastern coast of Belize improves access to remote communities and tourism destinations.

“The road includes full works to uplift and upgrade, introduce climate resilient features and road furnishings while installing critical drainage and bridges/crossings.

I thank Minister of Infrastructure Development, Julius Espat and his team for works well completed. I support his call for citizens to protect this infrastructure investment… to keep it litter free, and his call not to vandalize the road signs and furnishings,” the Prime Minister stated.

PM Briceño also appealed to motorists to drive safely, maintain the speed limit and adhere to road safety guidelines.
