By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Executive Assistant in the Office of the Prime Minister, Graciana Briceño Nah and her son Christian Nah are highly anticipating the pomp and circumstance as they will graduate from Galen University on July 16, 2023.

Graciana is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Economics.

Christian is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Economics.

Graciana says that she enrolled at Galen University after 11 years of being in a classroom and it was rough because it was election time.

“I remember doing classes in a corner on the street side because most of the time the Prime Minister was on tour. Then 3 days before elections, I had finals so this was the most challenging at the time. Most nights classes were done in my vehicle on my way home…the challenge was if I had a test or a presentation but most teachers were very understanding,” Graciana noted.

Their family and friends have extended congratulations on this phenomenal achievement by Graci and her son.

“I am so thankful and I am so proud that I will get to walk up with my son and that we both will share this moment together. My family has been very supportive and has encouraged us both in this journey. This year has been a very exceptional year for me too as my youngest son Johan graduated from 4th form as valedictorian,” Graci added.

Graci expressed gratitude to her family who has been her support team and to her boss, the Prime Minister for his encouragement.

“The excitement is real. I must say that I have a very supportive village. My family home and at work because they were there with me from the beginning helping me and encouraging me. My boss for encouraging me and having all his confidence in me. My closest friends who never stop believing even when I said I wanted to quit. I can’t tell you how proud, excited, and all kinds of mix emotions I am feeling right now,” Garci expressed.

Graci and Christian shared 3 classes together and says sometimes, it was weird.

“I shared three classes with my son, Christian and it was kind of weird. We would challenge each other and compare grades. We tried to be in the same groups for presentations. He helped me a lot because sometimes I would get so busy at work I would forget to log in to class and he would call me to tell me class is on,” Graci stated.

In addition, Graci says that Chris reminded her about submissions and assisted her to study together.

Chris says that his educational journey was a bit challenging but he remained focused.

“My journey was one where without self dedication and family, I wouldn’t have made it this far. Having my family’s unconditional support throughout my time at Galen was truly motivating. A bit challenging at first but definitely worth it at the end,” he stated.

Chris expressed joy in accomplishing this milestone alongside his mom.

“At first, I felt weird seeing and interacting with her in my classes but it felt right immediately after. I wouldn’t want it any other way. I am thankful that I got the opportunity to have her alongside me through this journey and I am super excited and proud that we made it through this journey together. I am super proud of her and I know she deserves all the congratulations in the world,” he added.
