By Aaron Humes: Tonight police announced criminal charges of being a member of a gang against eight persons, including the three suspects in the murder of Gabriel Tillett who have been separately charged for that crime.
The men are Robert Lamb, 23, labourer of Antelope Street Ext, Belize City; Kevin Lanza, 26, labourer of Old Well Road, Lord’s Bank Village, Belize District; Samuel Trapp, 28, labourer of Antelope Street Ext, Belize City; Alrick Lamb, 27, unemployed of Pelican Street Ext, Belize City; Mervin William Martin a.k.a “Bubba,” 26, construction worker of Antelope Street Extension, Belize City; Edwin Ricardo Suazo a.k.a “Pencil,” 24, of Hercelet Moody Street Extension, Belize City; Daniel Tillett, 19, laborer of Antelope Street Ext, Belize City and Joshua Brandon Hall alias “Red Cell”, 25, Laborer of Corozal Town, Corozal District.
Lamb, Lanza and Trapp are the suspects charged for the murder of Tillett on July 4 while Daniel is his brother.
The men are expected in court on Monday and would face heavy fines and potentially jail time if convicted.
The offense is contrary to the Crime Control and Criminal Justice Act which was created to counteract gang violence. Police said this week that they will take a tougher line with those deliberately interfering with their efforts to keep the peace.
