Alleged harassment by police officer ex-boyfriend: Woman reports serious claims of stalking and cyberbullying

Posted: Sunday, July 9, 2023. 6:23 pm CST.

By Breaking Belize News Staff: In a concerning turn of events, a woman has reported that her niece is allegedly being harassed and bullied by her ex-boyfriend, who is also a police officer. The situation is escalating, with the ex creating fake Facebook profiles using her pictures and personal information, attempting to break into her home, and even following her to her workplace.

The aunt, who wished to remain anonymous due to the sensitive nature of the situation, expressed her fears about the ongoing harassment during an interview with Breaking Belize News. “It’s starting to get out of hand,” she said, clearly distressed by the situation.

According to her, the ex-boyfriend has been using his position as a police officer to intimidate her niece. “He’s been following her to work and everything possible,” she reported. The most alarming part of this harassment involves the creation of false Facebook profiles. Using her niece’s name and pictures, the ex has allegedly been impersonating her online, which is a violation of Facebook’s community standards and could potentially lead to legal repercussions.

She also alleges that he has tried to break into her niece’s house on multiple occasions, a serious accusation that, if proven true, would not only violate laws against breaking and entering but would also constitute stalking.

As of now, it remains unclear what actions have been taken to address this matter. The family has not provided any information about whether they have reported these incidents to local authorities or to Facebook. However, this unfolding story brings to light the broader issue of online and offline harassment, especially when perpetrated by someone in a position of power, such as a police officer.

Breaking Belize News will continue to monitor this situation and provide updates as more information becomes available. It is a stark reminder that anyone can be a victim of harassment, regardless of their relationship with the perpetrator, and that victims must be supported and protected, and allegations taken seriously.
