Progresso woman stabbed to death during family dispute

By Breaking Belize News Staff: An altercation today between two relatives from Progresso Village, Corozal District, ended in one woman being stabbed to death.

Fifty-two-year-old Rosita Olivera was reportedly socializing with her brother and his wife when the two women began to argue. Despite Olivera’s brother’s attempts to part the escalating quarrel, her sister-in-law reportedly stabbed her and she later died from her injuries.

Residents of the village tell Breaking Belize News that infighting within the family was seen from time to time.

The sister-in-law has yet to be formally charged by police for any offense, so her name is being withheld at this time.
