23-year-old woman charged for allegedly stabbing and killing her sister-in-law in Progresso Village, Corozal

By Breaking Belize News Staff: Earlier this week Breaking Belize News reported on a tragic incident in Progresso Village, Corozal, where 52-year-old Rosita Olivera was fatally stabbed during a domestic dispute involving her brother and his wife. After a thorough investigation, Corozal District police have formally arrested and charged 23-year-old Daisy Lopez, Olivera’s sister-in-law, with the crime of murder.

The incident occurred early on Sunday morning following a night of alcohol consumption. According to initial reports, Olivera attempted to intervene in a marital argument between her brother and Lopez. It was during this intervention that Lopez is alleged to have drawn a knife, stabbing Olivera in the chest. Olivera succumbed to her injuries on the scene, bleeding to death before help could arrive.

The accused Daisy Lopez will be arraigned formally in court and await the outcome of legal proceedings.
