Come have a blast at Belize’s most spectacular Benque Fiesta from Thursday to Sunday

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Are you ready for the most amazing Fiesta in Belize? Benque Viejo del Carmen is the place to be from Thursday, July 13, to Sunday, July 16. You don’t want to miss this spectacular celebration of culture, sports, music, and fun!

The Benque Fiesta is a tribute to the town’s patron saint, the Lady of Mount Carmel, whose feast day is celebrated on July 16. The Benque Viejo del Carmen Town Council has prepared a variety of activities for everyone to enjoy. Here are some of the highlights:

– On Thursday, cheer for your favorite football team as Benque’s ZBoyz Football Club faces Melchor’s Panteritas at three different levels (U10, U13, and U15) starting at 3:00 pm. Then, dance the night away with Los Hijos del West Marimba and Mariachi El Jaguar at the Oldies Night at the Cancha Marshalleck starting at 7:00pm.

– On Friday, experience the rich culture of Benque and its neighbours at the Culture Show. Watch the Santa Cruz Dance Group, Amir Gabriel – Belize’s new urban singer, and the Ballet Folklórico from San Benito, Peten, Guatemala at 1:00 pm at the Edmund Marshalleck Stadium. After that, join the excitement as Benque and Guatemalan teams compete in football and basketball games at 6:00 pm. And don’t forget to attend the official opening of the Benque Fiesta at 8:00 pm featuring the Crowning of Señorita Flor de la Feria Cheri Contreras and a dance with Dj Piju and DJ Diablillo at Cancha Marshalleck.

– On Saturday, witness the thrilling action of the official football tournament featuring teams from Benque, Arenal, Melchor, Cayo, and San Benito at the Marshalleck Stadium beginning at 2:00 pm. If you love the excitement of horse and bull riding, head over to the Dr Amin Hegar Football Field for the International Rodeo at 3:00 pm. See the best cowboys and cowgirls show off their skills and bravery. And to top it all off, enjoy a dance with Techno Band, La Raza Band from Peten, and DJ Piju from 9:00 pm until dawn at the Cancha Marshalleck.

– On Sunday, marvel at the Marching Bands Parade and Performances starting at the Centennial Park at 10:30 am. Then, catch the final matches of the official football tournament and the second day of the International Rodeo in the afternoon. And finally, say goodbye to the Benque Fiesta with a grand dance featuring the mighty Gilharry 7 Band and DJ Piju.
