Police officer charged with damage to property and escaping from fellow cops

By Aaron Humes: A police officer placed on interdiction has been charged criminally with damage to property and escaping from lawful custody.

24-year-old Adrian Hall of Bella Vista area, Belize City appeared before Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola in court on Thursday.

Allegations are that on Sunday, July 9, Hall without lawful excuse caused damages to a $250 window louver and that on Tuesday, July 11, 2023 he prevented Police Sgt. Rasheed Coleman from executing the law by escaping from lawful custody while detained for the offense of damage to property.

Hall pleaded not guilty to both charges.

For the alleged escape, he was offered bail of $1,500 while for the damage to property, he was offered bail in the sum of $1,000. He is barred from contact with anyone involved in either case and to avoid further arrests while out on bail.

Hall returns to court on September 14.
