Subtropical storm Don forms in the Atlantic

Posted: Friday, July 14, 2023. 10:46 am CST.

By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center (NHC) are closely monitoring subtropical storm Don that has formed in the Atlantic.

As of this morning, Don was located some 1,170 miles west of the Azores.

Data indicate that maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.

Additional gradual weakening is expected during the next few days, and Don could possibly become a post-tropical cyclone or remnant low soon.
