XIV AFECAVOL Women´s U19 Central American Championship comes to Civic on Sunday

By Celeste Chang: Starting on Sunday, Belize hosts the XIV AFECAVOL Women’s U-19 Central American Championship at the Belize Civic Center. All seven Central American countries will be present and there will be three matches daily, with the hosts playing each night at 7:30.

This is the third time Belize is hosting a regional volleyball competition at the Civic Center following the 2019 senior tournament and last year’s U-21 tournament, securing silver both times.

Costa Rica are the defending champions, with eight titles at this age group including five in a row prior to 2017’s loss to Honduras.

The competition schedule is as follows:

Sunday, July 16: 14:00 Honduras vs El Salvador; 16:30 Nicaragua vs Guatemala; 19:00 Opening Ceremony; 19:30 Belize vs Panama

Monday, July 17: 14:30 El Salvador vs Nicaragua; 17:00 Panama V.S Honduras; 19:30 Costa Rica V.S Belize

Tuesday July 18: 14:30 Nicaragua vs Panama; 17:00 Honduras vs Costa Rica; 19:30 Guatemala vs El Salvador

Wednesday July 19: 14:30 Costa Rica vs Nicaragua; 17:00 Panama vs Guatemala; 19:30 Belize vs Honduras

Thursday July 20: 14:30 Guatemala vs Costa Rica; 17:00 El Salvador vs Panama; 19:30 Nicaragua vs Belize

Friday July 21: 14:30 Costa Rica vs El Salvador; 17:00 Honduras vs Nicaragua; 19:30 Belize vs Guatemala

Saturday July 22: 14:30 Panama vs Costa Rica; 17:00 Guatemala vs Honduras; 19:30 El Salvador vs Belize
