By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Club Atletico started the National Amateur Interdistrict Championship on good footing defeating the visiting Shark Shooters 3-1 at the Isidoro Beaton Stadium in Belmopan on Saturday night.
Dylon Gongora ignited play scoring the opener in the 32nd minute for Atletico. The game remained tight and competitive with the Shark Shooters pushing to draw even which they managed through the efforts of Andy Castro in the 70th.
But instead of deflating Club Atletico, the Shooters goal was the catalyst the Belmopan side needed. They dug deep and roared back with a vengeance hammering two goals by Marlon Miranda in the 83rd and Camilo Sanchez in the by 88th to record a 3-1 win over the San Pedro club.
Atletico have the lead but the Shark Shooters are not out yet as they have the return match at their home next weekend to determine who advances to the Semifinals.
