Belize lead Under-19 Central American Women’s Volleyball Championship with 5 points after 1st first game

By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Following the opening triple-header on Sunday, Belize lead the Under 19 Central American Women’s Volleyball Championship with five points after a perfect 3-0 win over Panama on Sunday.

The regional tournament, organized by the Belize Volleyball Association (BVA) in conjunction with the Association of Central American Volleyball Federations (AFECAVOL), features all seven Central American countries and is being played at the Belize City Civic Center all week.

Belize was the only team to win by all sets on opening night thereby earning five points. El Salvador beat Honduras 3-1 and Nicaragua dropped Guatemala 3-1 and gained four points each. El Salvadoran are ranked second and Nicaragua 3^rd.

Guatemala are fourth, Honduras fifth, and Panama 6^th. Costa Rica, who did not see action on Monday, are ranked 7^th.

After one game, the best scorer of the competition is Naomi Monney of Guatemala with 22 points. She’s followed by Allison Mendez of El Salvador and Hilma Torrez of Nicaragua; both have 20 points. Guilliana Garcia of Honduras has 18. Maria Rodriguez of El Salvador sports 16. Belize’s Nisaan Martinez is 6^th with 15 points and Belize’s Khaya Gordon is 7^th with 14 points.

The Best Attacker after one game is Mendez of El Salvador. She is followed by Belizeans Martinez and Gordon.

The Best Blocker is Belize’s Blessed Omamurhe. The Best Servers are Kaleigh Cardinez and Martinez of Belize. Alessandra Hernandez of Honduras and Brisa Perez of Nicaragua are the Best Diggers.

The Best Setter is Ariana Joachin of El Salvador. The Best Receivers are Belize’s Gordon and Guatemala’s Monney. The Best Libero, according to the statistics, is Roselyn Tobie of Nicaragua.
