By Zoila Palma Gonzalez: The Belize Audubon Society (BAS) and staff assigned to the Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary hosted a summer camp for young birders.
The camp began on July 17 and ends today.
The camp provided an enriching and educational experience for budding bird enthusiasts from Crooked Tree.
The campers explored the fascinating world of birds through drawing, learning about bird characteristics, and nature walks within the sanctuary.
The camp aimed to foster a love for birds, expand knowledge, and deepen connections with nature.
Participants showcased their artistic talents by sketching various bird species, capturing their unique beauty on paper.
The BAS noted that educational sessions delved into bird characteristics and behaviors, igniting curiosity and respect for the natural world. Guided nature walks offered firsthand encounters with a diverse range of avian species, strengthening appreciation for the sanctuary’s rich biodiversity.
The BAS thanked the young birders and mentors who contributed to the camp’s success.
“Through initiatives like this, the society continues to inspire future generations of birders and environmental stewards, fostering a commitment to the conservation of Belize’s natural heritage,” BAS noted.
