By Rubén Morales Iglesias: The Cycling Federation of Belize announced on Tuesday that it has selected three junior Belizean cyclists, namely Delton Rojas, Jaylen Briceño, and Gabrielle Gabourel, to represent Belize at the Commonwealth Youth Games. The Games are to be held in Trinidad and Tobago from August 3 to 11, 2023.
“The cycling contingent to this event will include Delton Rojas and Jaylen Briceno in the youth male category, and Gabrielle Gabourel in the youth women category,” the CFB said in a social media post.
“Coach Douglas Lamb will support and accompany them. They will participate in the road race and the Individual time trial. Good luck!”
The CFB announcement comes one day after the Belize Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association, commonly known as the Belize Olympic Committee, confirmed an announcement by Derrick Chavarria that he has qualified for and will be competing in the Under 23 World Cycling Championship in Glasgow Scotland on August 12. Chavarria announced on Monday that he had earned enough points to secure his spot in the prestigious event.
