By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Nicaragua took over the top spot from Belize after accumulating 13 points from their three victories in the Under 19 Central American Women’s Volleyball Championship.

Nicaragua beat both Guatemala and El Salvador 3-1 gaining four points from each win and today went on to blank Panama 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-13) collecting five more points. They will remain in first place for another day as not one can total 13 points today.

Belize, despite the 3-1 loss to Costa Rica on Monday, dropped to second place with six points: five from their 3-0 win over Panama and one point from their loss to Costa Rica.

El Salvador who won 3-1 over Honduras but lost 3-1 to Nicaragua are in third place with five points.

Panama also have five points from their 3-0 win over Honduras and are in fourth place. They didn’t get any points from their 3-0 loss to Belize.

Favourites to win it all, Costa Rica are in fifth place for the time being with four points from their win over Belize. The Costa Ricans, like Guatemala, have only played one game.

Guatemala are in sixth position with one point from their 3-1 loss to Nicaragua.

Honduras are in last place with one point after dropping their first two games: 3-1 to El Salvador and 3-0 to Panama.
