By Aaron Humes: A 21-year-old who says he is a high school student from the Cayo District is in trouble with his aunt after allegedly damaging several of her valuables and indecently exposing her to his private area publicly.
21-year-old Mayron Myvett is a resident of San Ignacio Town. He was charged with damage to property belonging to his aunt Maria Gentle at her residence and with misdemeanor exposing himself in public for “disrespectfully” taking out his privates and showing them to his aunt while in her vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux, on July 16, between Miles 3 and 4 on the Philip Goldson Highway, Belize City.
The valuables included vases, mirrors, a glass windshield, and the front side headlight and bonnet of his aunt’s vehicle for a total value of $4,200.
Appearing before Magistrate Tehri-Ann Brown, he pleaded guilty to the damage to property charge but denied the charge of exposing his person in public. The magistrate deferred sentencing and set the case for September 1, in the meantime releasing Myvett on $600 bail subject to staying away from his aunt.
According to Gentle, Myvett had initially left the house after going into his room when they arrived home, only to return and start banging on the front door to be let in. She refused and he began to break the items in front of the house, then left again. He returned once more but she was steadfast in not letting him in and he left for good, whereupon she reported the matter to police.
