Chairman of Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association Andy Westby has died

By Aaron Humes: Breaking Belize News (BBN) has been reliably informed that the chairman of the Committee of Management of the Belize Sugar Cane Farmers Association (BSCFA), Andy Westby of Caledonia, Corozal District, has died.

Information is that he passed at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital earlier today after a lengthy illness.

Westby was among the public faces of the BSCFA’s battle with Belize Sugar Industries Limited/American Sugar Refining (BSI/ASR) for a new and fairer commercial agreement.

In a heartfelt statement, the Association said, “Andy’s presence will be deeply missed by the thousands of cane farmers for whom he tirelessly fought. Rest in Peace, Andy.”
