Costa Rica won MVP and most awards, Belize took 3, including best striker, best attacker and best blocker awards in recent volleyball tournament

By Hugh O’Brien: In the recently concluded Women’s U19 Central American Championship held in Belize, Costa Rica took most of the awards for exceptional performance, followed by Belize then Guatemala.

The Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the tournament was awarded to Rashany Solano from Costa Rica (CRC). Her remarkable skills displayed throughout the championship also enabled her to earn the Best Free, Best Receiver and Best Defense.

Khaya Gordon from Belize (BIZ) followed with two (2) awards, one (1) for Best Striker and the other for Top Scorer. Gordon led the tournament’s scoring charts and officials were clearly impressed with her attacking abilities.

The 2nd Best Striker award went to Joselyn Moraga from Costa Rica (CRC), who demonstrated her prowess in the offensive department during the competition.

Blessed Omamurhe from Belize (BIZ) was acknowledged as the Best Block player, showcasing her defensive capabilities and crucial role in blocking the opposition’s attacks.

Nhya Barley from Costa Rica (CRC) secured the 2nd Best Block award, adding to her team’s strong defensive presence at the net.

Maria Daniela Juarez from Guatemala (GUA) was honored as the Best Placer, recognizing her good placement of the ball to facilitate spiking and helping her team to earn crucial points during matches.

Angelica Rodriguez from Costa Rica (CRC) was awarded the title of Best Opponent, acknowledging her ability to read the game well and counter the opponents’ plays effectively.

Sheyla Alvarez from Costa Rica (CRC) was recognized as the Best Server, highlighting her skill in delivering powerful and precise serves.

The Women’s U19 Central American Championship was held at the Belize City Civic Center on July 22, 2023. The tournament showcased remarkable talent and competitive spirit from all participating teams, and these individual awards served as a testament to the exceptional performances of the players.
