By Aaron Humes: Police on Thursday charged 59-year-old Dangriga man Ezekiel Cacho for manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct, driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention, and driving a motor vehicle without third-party risk insurance.

Cacho lost control of his vehicle while leaving Dangriga Town on Wednesday afternoon and ran into two persons waiting at a bus stop – American retiree Michael Scott, 86, who died; and 30-year-old Glenda Vanegas, who is pregnant.

After being initially treated at the Southern Regional Hospital not far away, Vanegas was taken to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where her condition was upgraded to critical but stable. On Thursday according to police, Vanegas discharged herself from the KHMH, and her injuries are still not classified.
