By Rubén Morales Iglesias: Belize will play the headline game against Panama on Opening Day of the Boys Under 17 FIBA CentroBasket Championship hosted by the Belize Basketball Federation at the Belize City Civic Center on Wednesday, July 26.
The game starts at 8:30 pm.
The opening game of the championship will see the Dominican Republic clash with Costa Rica at 2:00 pm. Mexico and El Salvador will follow suit at 4:00 pm. Jamaica and Puerto Rico will play the third match with a Caribbean rivalry at 6:30 pm. The championship will conclude on Sunday, July 30.
The Belize Boys National Team consists of Michael Caceres, Tevaughan Dawson, Wilford, Dawson, Elijah Favela, Meshach Flowers, Tomas Garcia, Amare Jones, Douglas, Langford Jr., Devin Moody, Daniel Musa, Jason Orosco, and Ian Parham Jr.
The BBF said earlier this is the first time Belize host a regional junior national team basketball tournament.
The regional tournament, hosted by the Belize Basketball Federation, features the best teams in the region: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Panama, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Jamaica, and Mexico. The top 3 teams will qualify for the FIBA U18 Americas Championship.
